Nuclear PDFs at the beginning of LHC Run 3
S@INT Seminar
Parton distribution functions (PDFs) are an essential tool for understanding the hadron and nuclear structure as revealed by high-energy scattering processes. In this talk I will review the current status of extracting nuclear PDFs (nPDFs) from global data. I will give an introduction to the framework of collinear factorization of quantum chromodynamics and the basic processes that are used in constraining the nPDFs. Recently, the progress in this field has been driven by the new data from LHC proton-lead collisions. I will review the progress in using data from LHC Run 1 and 2 and also hint on some opportunities and challenges that we face during the LHC Run 3.
The speaker for this event will lead the meeting remotely. All interested graduate students and faculty are invited to attend by convening in the INT Interaction Space (C-423).
Participants are also welcome to join via Zoom. Zoom link will be available via announcement email, or by contacting: amccoy10[at]uw.edu or gsj6[at]uw.edu
