Uncertainties and Constraints for neutrino opacities in core-collapse supernovae and neutron star mergers

The neutrino opacities of hot and dense matter play an important role in the core collapse supernovae (CCSNe) explosion mechanism. They also heavily influence the nucleosynthesis process in CCSNe and binary neutron star (BNS) mergers. The neutrino-nucleon interactions are the dominating source of neutrino opacities around the neutrino sphere. However, at relatively high densities, these interactions are greatly modified by the ``in-medium" effects, which have not been fully understood yet and result in large uncertainties of neutrino opacities. The ``in-medium" effects origin from the (spin) density correlations of nucleons and thus, relate to the nucleon-nucleon (spin-/isospin- dependent) interactions. In this talk, I would like to discuss our recent results on 1) uncertainty quantification of neutrino-nucleon opacities and 2) new constraints for neutrino-nucleon interactions from measurements of Gamow-Teller resonance in neutron-rich nucleus.
