Testing the Standard Model in Charged-Weak Decays

W. Dekens, D. Melconian, C.Y. Seng, J. Sobczyk
25-3b

Precise measurements of neutron and nuclear beta decays, as well as kaon and pion decays, allow for the extraction of the so-called Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa (CKM) elements and provide stringent tests of the Standard Model. The workshop aimed to cover recent results related to these tests and to summarize their current status. By bringing together experimentalists and theorists with expertise on all the relevant experimental and theoretical inputs, it provided a comprehensive summary of recent developments and identified priorities for both future experimental and theoretical work.

A major outcome of the workshop was the formation of two new collaborations, namely, a Neutron Beta Decay Theory Collaboration and the “VUDU Alliance”. The former aims to address the need for a consensus on theory inputs for neutron beta decays. The second plans to bridge the gap between theory and experiment in beta decays and will produce global analyses of Vud determinations from world nuclear data
