Postdoctoral Researcher or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher (Nuclear Theory and Quantum Information)

External Positions
Postdoctoral

The nuclear theory and quantum information groups at Louisiana State University invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher to perform scientific research at the intersection of quantum information science and ab initio nuclear structure and reaction theory. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Hearne Institute of Theoretical Physics, and will collaborate with members of the DOE National Quantum Information Science Research Centers based at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

Postdoctoral Researcher: The successful candidate will be able to develop novel quantum algorithms for nuclear dynamics simulations on multidimensional photonic networks. In addition, the successful candidate will utilize LSU's symmetry-adapted no-core shell model and interact with members of the nuclear theory group as well as the theoretical and experimental quantum information science groups. Responsibilities will include participating in the training of undergraduate and graduate students, preparing and publishing results, and presenting of results at conferences and meetings(100%)

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in theoretical physics.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in quantum information science is preferred.

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher: The successful candidate will be leading a research project with the aim to develop novel quantum algorithms for nuclear dynamics simulations on multidimensional photonic networks. In addition, the successful candidate will utilize LSU's symmetry-adapted no-core shell model and interact with members of the nuclear theory group as well as the theoretical and experimental quantum information science groups. Responsibilities will include training of undergraduate and graduate students, preparing and publishing results, presenting of results at conferences and meetings, and participating in grant-related activities (100%).

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in theoretical physics and 3 years related work experience. Prior experience in quantum information science is required.

Review of applications will start on February 28, 2023. For any questions, please contact Kristina Launey (klauney@lsu.edu) or James Sauls (sauls@lsu.edu).
