INT Summer School on "Lattice QCD and its applications"

Seattle, August 8 - 28, 2007

Final Information Letter

Dear Students in the Lattice QCD and its Applications program,

The Summer School is just a few weeks away; please find orientation information below.

Lectures will be held on the University of Washington campus in the Physics Astronomy building, room A114 (13-J on the map). Look for pink signs. Click here for campus maps

Registration will begin at 8:00 am on Wednesday, August 8 outside room A114. It will be quick, but please don't arrive too late as we would like to get everyone processed before the first session. This will begin at 8:50 am with a brief introduction and then the first lecture.

Be sure to bring your laptops, since you will need these for Balint Joo's afternoon lecture. Please bring them fully charged, as there are not nearly enough outlets for all 83 of you. Also, please note that we will not be allowing laptop use during lectures other than the Numerical Exercises run by Balint Joo. This is both as a courtesy to the lecturers, and to your neighbors---the lecture hall will be full. There will be time to check emails etc. during the coffee and lunch breaks---wireless signal is available through most of the campus and you will have access. (Note that the University has an open computing network; please be sure to perform the standard updates on your computer before your arrival.)

We will provide limited transportation from SeaTac airport to the University of Washington campus on Tuesday, August 7th. Vans will leave the airport at 11 am, 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm and 10 pm. If you would like a ride, please meet in the Baggage Claim area just to the South of the Alki Bakery Express opposite carousels 5-7. Click here for airport map.

There should be someone from the UW/INT waiting in that area for about 30 minutes prior to each pick-up time.

We have chosen the van times based on the arrival information you have provided. If you would like to use one of these vans and have not provided arrival information, please let us know ASAP, and we will try and accomodate you. Note that you should allow an hour from landing to getting your luggage, longer for international flights.

Additional ground transportation options can be found here.

If you are arriving on campus between between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am, the Terry-Lander dormitory desk will be closed. In order to get your keys you will need to phone the RA on duty at 206 934-3889. Listen to the recorded message and press the option to contact the "Lander RA" who will let you in and give you your keys. You will be staying in Terry Hall, but it is the Lander RA who will let you in. There are campus phones outside all of the doors to the dormitory, and you can use those phones to make the call.

For those of you bringing posters, the poster-boards and hardware will be available starting Monday August 20th.

We look forward to seeing you soon in Seattle.
