The NUSEL Collaboration
The NUSEL Collaboration is a group of volunteers who, after the
Bahcall Committee report was completed, helped draft the NUSEL
proposal to the NSF. This group continues to work on a variety
of tasks important to the creation of NUSEL: land and building
transfer arrangements, establishing the transition office at the
Homestake Mine, working on the technical design study for
underground construction, indemnity, working with Homestake to
ensure that necessary equipment and supplies remain available
after transition, etc. Community members who would like to
help are encouraged to volunteer: please see the collaboration
guidelines for procedures for joining the collaboration.
It is expected that the NUSEL Collaboration will be replaced by
another entity when National Science Foundation approves the
proposal and recommends a plan for NUSEL governance.
